On December 2nd, 1996, the M&M's Holiday commercial "They Do Exist" or "Faint" premiered on television. The ad features the red and yellow M&M walking into the living room discussing Santa Claus, to find him leaving presents. The red M&M and Santa Claus are both surprised that each other exists, to the point where they faint in disbelief. The ad was created by advertising agency BBDO, and has re-aired every single holiday season since its debut. In 2017, twenty-one years after the original, a sequel commercial "Faint 2" picked up right where the original left off.
