Today in Computer History (December 8, 1975): The Byte Shop Opens!
On December 8, 1975, one of the first computer retail stores opened. It was called "The Byte Shop" and was opened by Paul Terrell. The Byte Shop is most famous for ordering and selling the first 50 Apple I computers hand-built by Apple Co-Founders, Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs. The Apple I was originally intended to be sold as a kit (like all other computers on the market), but Paul Terrell requested that the computers be fully-assembled upon them being delivered.
