On April 30th, 2004, the original "Mean Girls" film was released to theaters in the United States. Written by Tina Fey and directed by Mark Waters, and starring Lindsey Lohan, Rachel McAdams, and more, it first premiered on April 19th, 2004 in Los Angeles. "Mean Girls" earned $130.1 million in the box office on an $18 million production budget. A made-for-TV sequel, "Mean Girls 2", premiered on ABC Family in January 2011. Also, "Mean Girls" was adapted into a stage musical in 2018, and a new musical film adaption was released in January 2024.
