On April 6th, 1906, the animated film, "Humorous Phases of Funny Faces" was released. Directed by James Stuart Blackton, the film is generally regarded as the first animated film recorded in a standard picture film by film historians. The film is three minutes long, and uses stop-motion and cutout animation techniques.
