On August 5th, 1983, the coming-of-age teenage comedy film, "Risky Business", was released to theaters across the United States. Directed by Paul Brickman, the film stars Tom Cruise and Rebecca De Mornay, and is considered Cruise's breakout role. Upon release, "Risky Business" was a success at the box-office, grossing more than $63 million on a $6.2 million production budget. It became the tenth-highest-grossing film of 1983 in the United States. The film received critical acclaim, with many comparing the film to "The Graduate". Cruise's performance in the film earned him the first Golden Globe Award nomination of his career.
