On February 17th, 1984, the musical drama film, "Footloose", was released to theaters across the United States. Directed by Herbert Ross, the film stars Kevin Bacon as Ren McCormack, a teenager who moves to a small town who attempts to overturn a ban on dancing. The film opened to mixed reviews from critics, but was still a box-office success, earning $80 million in the North American box-office, on a $7.5 million production budget. Two songs from the film's soundtrack reached number one on the Hot 100 music charts and were nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song, including "Let's Hear It For The Boy" by Deniece Williams and "Footloose" by Kenny Loggins.
