On February 6th, 1921, comedy legend Charlie Chaplin appeared in his first feature-length film role as a director, "The Kid". Appearing as his signature character, "Little Tramp", Chaplin also wrote, produced, and starred in the film. The film turned out to be a huge success, grossing $5.45 million in the box office on a $250,000 budget, making it the second-highest-grossing film of 1921. "The Kid" is also widely considered one of the greatest films of the silent film era.
