On February 7th, 2014, "The Lego Movie" was released to theaters in the United States. Development for a feature film based on LEGO started in 2008, and the script, which was started in August 2009, was green-lit by Warner Bros. in November 2011. The film starred Chris Pratt, Will Ferell, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, and more. Upon release, the film became a critical and commercial success, grossing $470.7 million in the box office worldwide, against a budget of $65 million. The success of the film led to a sequel, "The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part", being released in 2019.
