On January 23rd, 1943, the iconic war-time film, "Casablanca", was released in the United States. Directed by Michael Curtiz, the film stars Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, and Paul Henreid. "Casablanca" was filmed between May 25th, 1942 and August 3rd, 1942, and was shot entirely at Warner Bros. Studios, with the exception of one sequence. The movie had its world premiere on November 26th, 1942, in New York City, and was released nationally on January 23rd the following year. In its initial run, the film grossed between $3.7-6.9 million at the box office, on a $878,000-$1 million production budget. Exceeding expectations, "Casablanca" went on to win the Academy Award for Best Picture, while Curtiz was selected as Best Director. Today, "Casablanca" is considered one of the most iconic films of all time!
