On January 29th, 1964, the Stanley Kubrick-directed film, "Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb" was released to U.S. theaters. The film was based on the Cold War fears of a nuclear conflict between the Soviet Union and the United States. "Dr. Strangelove" grossed $9.2 million on a $1.8 million budget. The film is generally considered one of the greatest comedy films ever made, with it's iconic "Kong rides the bomb" scene becoming one of the most iconic scenes in movie history.
