Starring Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, Gary Sinise, and Sally Field, the film first premiered on June 23rd, 1994. in Los Angeles. Upon release, "Forrest Gump" received critical acclaim and was a major box office success, grossing $678.2 million on a $55 million production budget, and became the second-highest-grossing film of 1994, behind just "The Lion King". The soundtrack, which features classic songs from the 1950s to the 1980s, sold over 12 million copies.
