On June 16th, 1978, the musical film, "Grease" was released to theaters across the United States! Based on the 1972 stage musical of the same name, the film stars John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John as the main characters. Upon release, "Grease" became a commercial and critical success, and became the highest-grossing musical film of all time. The film went on to gross $396.3 million in the box office on a $6 million budget, and its soundtrack album became the second-best-selling album of the year in the United States, only behind the "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack - a film which also starred Travolta.
