Today in Film History (June 27th, 2008): Disney & Pixar Release "WALL-E"!

On June 27th, 2008, Disney and Pixar released the animated film, "WALL-E". Costing a whopping $180 million to produce (a record-breaking sum for an animated film at the time), "WALL-E" was directed by Andrew Stanton, who also directed the Pixar film, "Finding Nemo" in 2003. The film was highly praised by critics for its voice acting, story, animation, score, and more, and in 2021, it became the second Pixar film, after "Toy Story", to be selected for preservation in the U.S. National Film Registry. The film grossed $521.3 million in the box office, and became the ninth-highest grossing film of 2008. "WALL-E" is commonly considered one of the greatest animated films of all time, and one of Pixar's best.

 
FUN FACT: The voice of the Axiom's AUTO computer in the film was MacInTalk - the text-to-speech program for Apple Macintosh computers.
