On June 30th, 2004, the Sam Raimi film, "Spider-Man 2", was released to theaters across the United States. Starring Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, James Franco, and more, the film first premiered at the Mann Village Theater in Los Angeles on June 25th, 2004. "Spider-Man 2" went on to gross $795.9 million worldwide on a $200 million production budget, and became the third-highest-grossing film of 2004. Critics praised almost every part of the film, including the emotional weight, visual effects, and Raimi's direction. "Spider-Man 2" won Best Visual Effects at the 77th Academy Awards.
