On June 9th, 1993, Steven Spielberg's "Jurassic Park" premiered at the Uptown Theater in Washington D.C.! Starring Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, and Richard Attenborough, The dinosaurs in the film were created with groundbreaking computer-generated imagery by Industrial Light & Magic, and with life-sized animatronic dinosaurs built by Stan Winston's team. The film was backed by an extensive marketing campaign of $65 million, which included licensing deals with over 100 companies. "Jurassic Park" was released to theaters across the United States on June 11th, 1993, and was an immediate blockbuster hit, grossing over $914 million worldwide in its original theatrical run, surpassing Spielberg's own "E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial" to become the highest-grossing film of all time. The film won 20 awards, including three Academy Awards, and was re-released for its 20th anniversary in 2013, creating a cumulative box-office gross of over $1.058 billion for the film.
