On March 15th, 2002, the animated film, "Ice Age" was released to theaters in the United States. "Ice Age" was directed by Chris Wedge, and featured voices from Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary, as well as others. The film was originally intended to be a 2D animated film produced by Fox Animation Studios, but ultimately became the first full-length animated film for the newly reshaped Blue Sky Studios, who had just reformed from a VFX house to a computer animation studio. The film received mostly positive reviews from critics and was nominated for Best Animated Feature at the 75th Academy Awards. It grossed over $383.2 million, making it the eighth highest-grossing film of 2002, and the highest-grossing animated film of 2002.
