On May 23rd, 1980, the Stanley Kubrick film, "The Shining", was released to theaters across the United States. Starring Jack Nicholson, Shelley Duvall, and Scatman Crothers, the film was based on the 1977 Stephen King novel of the same name. Upon release, the film grossed approximately $47.3 million in the box-office on a $19 million production budget. Today, "The Shining" is often considered one of the greatest horror films ever made, as well as one of the greatest films of all time!
