Today in Film History (November 11th, 1994): "The Santa Clause" is Released to U.S. Theaters!

On November 11th, 1994, the family-favorite Christmas film, "The Santa Clause" was released in theaters. Directed by John Pasquin, and is the first installment in "The Santa Clause" franchise, which stars Tim Allen as Scott Calvin/Santa Claus. Although it premiered on November 5th, 1994, in Hollywood, it was released nationwide on November 11th. The film went on to gross $190.3 million on a $22 million budget. It received mixed-to-postive reviews from critics, and has since become a family-favorite Christmas film. Its success led to two sequel films in the franchise, "The Santa Clause 2" (2002) and "The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause" (2006). Also, a follow-up series, "The Santa Clauses", premiered on November 16th, 2022, on Disney+.
