The Beatles released their first animated film, "Yellow Submarine", in the United States on November 13th, 1968. It was originally released exclusively in the United Kingdom on July 17th, 1968. Except for providing their songs, The Beatles did not participate in the film, except for a short closing scene, which was only added due to their contract with the production company. Voice actors provided the voices for the "Fab Four" in the movie. The film was praised by audiences and critics alike, in contrast to The Beatles' previous film, "Magical Mystery Tour". The film grossed around $1.275 million in the box office, on a $250,000 budget, and has since been considered a staple of animated films.
