Today in Film History (November 22, 1995): Pixar releases Toy Story!
On November 22, 1995, Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Pictures released Toy Story. It is well-known for being the first fully computer animated feature film, as well as the first full-length feature film from Pixar (who had previously only made shorts). It became the second highest-grossing film of 1995, earning $373 million at the box office. The success of Toy Story led to three more films in the franchise: Toy Story 2 (1999), Toy Story 3 (2010) (which was the first Pixar film to gross over $1 billion), and Toy Story 4 (2019). An upcoming fifth film in the franchise is set to be released in 2025.
