On November 24th, 1993, the comedy-drama film, "Mrs. Doubtfire", was released to theaters across the United States. Directed by Chris Columbus, the film was based on the 1987 novel "Madame Doubtfire" by Anne Fine. The film stars Robin Williams, Sally Field, Pierce Brosnan, among others. Upon release, the film received mixed reviews, but went on to gross $441.3 million in the box-office on a $25 million production budget, making it the second-highest-grossing film of 1993, behind only "Jurassic Park". The film won the Academy Award for Best Makeup, as well as the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy.
