On November 24th, 1997, Pixar's short film, "Geri's Game" premiered at the Laemmle's Monica Theater in Los Angeles. The film was Pixar's first film to feature a human as its main character, and the same character made an appearance in "Toy Story 2" in 1999 as "The Cleaner". The short film was released eight years after Pixar's last short, "Knick Knack", and was part of an effort to reignite the studio's short film series. "Geri's Game" won an Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film in 1998, and was later shown with the theatrical release of "A Bug's Life" in November 1998.
