On June 1st, 1997, the internet answer engine, "Ask Jeeves" was launched! Conceptualized and developed in 1996 by Garrett Gruener and David Warthen, the original software was designed and implemented by Gary Chevsky. Askjeeves.com became iconic, and had an average of 23 million monthly unique users in the UK in 2011. In 2006, the "Jeeves" name was discontinued and the website became Ask.com. Ask is currently owned and operated by InterActiveCorp, which acquired Ask Media Group in 2005.
