On February 28th, 1976, the "Theme from S.W.A.T." became the first television theme song to reach the top spot on the Billboard Pop Charts. The song was used as the opening theme for the 1970s show "S.W.A.T.", though the version that reached #1 was a different recording than the original TV theme version. To this day, it remains one of the few TV themes to top the Hot 100, and was followed by John Sebastian's "Welcome Back" from "Welcome Back, Kotter", as well as others.
