Today in Tech History (April 3rd, 1973): The First Cellular Phone Call was Made!

On April 3rd, 1973, Motorola employee, Martin Cooper, made the first successful call on a cell phone! Cooper had been part of the developing team at Motorola who created the DynaTAC, the first cell-phone. Cooper made the first ever cell phone call from a prototype DynaTAC to Joel S. Engel, his rival who was working to develop the first cell phone at AT&T, said, "I'm calling you on a cell phone, but a real cell phone, a personal, handheld, portable cell phone." The first commercial cell phone was released by Motorola in 1984 for a price of $3000.
