On December 17, 1903, the Wright Brothers, Wilbur and Orville, made the first successful powered aircraft flights in Kitty Hawk. This marked the first powered flight with a aircraft heavier than air. Orville made the first flight which lasted 12 seconds. Three more successful flights were made by the Wright Brothers that day, with the most successful by Wilbur which lasted 59 seconds! Orville lived long enough to see the first supersonic aircraft flight, of the Concorde, in 1973!
