Today in Tech History (December 22, 1882): The First Electric Christmas Tree Lights Were Lit!

On December 22, 1882, Edward Johnson, a worker for inventor Thomas Edison, had custom walnut-shaped light bulbs made for him to wire his Christmas tree with electric lights. These lights became the first electric Christmas tree lights. The lights’ colors were red, white, and blue, and ended the era where people would use wax candles to light their trees.
