On March 31st, 1999, the TiVo digital video recorder was introduced. The TiVo was groundbreaking for its time, as it provoded an on-screen guide of scheduled broadcast programming television programs, as well as features that allowed the user to record every new episode of a television series automatically. TiVo discontinued all production of their DVRs on October 1st, 2025, after over 26 years in production.
