On April 1st, 1997, the first episode of the "Pokemon" animated television series premiered in Japan on TV Tokyo. The season, which later became known as "Pokemon: Indigo League", later aired in the United States from September 8th, 1998 to November 27th, 1999. A total of 82 episodes of the series were created, and the season was ultimately replaced by "Pokemon: Adventures in the Orange Islands".
