On April 7th, 1927, the first long-distance television transmission took place in Washington D.C. AT&T's Bell Labs successfully transmitted images of former President of the United States, and the Secretary of Commerce Herbert Hoover to New York City over telephone lines, marking the first public demonstration of long-distance television.
