On August 31st, 1976, the iconic television show, "Alice", premiered on CBS! Based on the 1974 Martin Scorsese film, "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore", the show stars Linda Lavin as Alice Hyatt, who takes a job as a waitress at Mel's Diner. Unlike most spin-offs that struggle to find an audience, "Alice" was a ratings powerhouse for nearly a decade, when it was ranked the #4 show in America in 1979-1980 by Nielson. The series aired for nine seasons and produced 202 episodes, and became a staple of Sunday night television, often airing alongside "The Jeffersons" and "One Day at a Time". The show won 8 Golden Globe Awards, and received 8 Primetime Emmy nominations. The show's final episode aired on CBS on March 19th, 1985.
