Today in Television History (December 18, 1966): Dr. Seuss's "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" Aired on CBS!

On December 18, 1966, the television special, "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" aired on CBS for the first time! The film was based on the 1957 Dr. Seuss book of the same name. The voice of the Grinch was played by Boris Karloff, who is known for his role as Frankenstein's monster in the 1931 film, "Frankenstein". The film was a half hour long and has been playing annually for years. The success of the special led to the 2000 Jim Carrey feature-film of the same name, and the 2018 animated film, "The Grinch". The special can also be seen for a short time in the Christmas movie, "Home Alone", while the main character Kevin is sleeping on the couch.
