Today in Television History (December 6th, 2005): The Office Episode, "Christmas Party", Premiered on NBC!

On December 6th, 2005, the first "Office" Christmas episode, "Christmas Party" premiered on NBC. The episode features the Scranton Dunder Mifflin branch throwing an office Christmas party with a Secret Santa, which is abruptly changed to Yankee Swap when Michael Scott is upset with his gift. The episode received positive reviews from critics, who praised Michael's "Yankee Swap" scene. It was also nominated for two Primetime Emmy awards, and earned a Nielsen rating of 4.3, being viewed by 9.7 million viewers during its initial broadcast.
