Today in Television History (December 7th, 2000): "Patchy The Pirate Presents The SpongeBob Christmas Special" Premieres on Nickelodeon!

On December 7th, 2000, the Season 2 "SpongeBob SquarePants" episode, "Christmas Who?", premiered on Nickelodeon. Also known as "Patchy the Pirate Presents the SpongeBob Christmas Special", this episode marked the first appearance of Patchy the Pirate and his parrot, Potty. The episode follows SpongeBob as he learns about Christmas for the first time from Sandy, and then shares the joy of the new holiday with the whole Bikini Bottom! "Christmas Who" broadcast at 8:30pm, and as of today, the episode still airs regularly on Nickelodeon during the holiday season. In December 2012, nearly 12 years after the episode, the second SpongeBob christmas episode, "It's a SpongeBob Christmas!" aired on Nickelodeon. The episode recieved generally positive reviews, and has become a fan favorite episode of "SpongeBob SquarePants" to this day!
