On February 25th, 1970, the iconic children's song, "Rubber Duckie" was performed by Jim Henson as Ernie on the television program, "Sesame Street". "Rubber Duckie" was popular enough to be recorded and released as a 45 rpm single and became a surprise mainstream hit, peaking at number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 on September 26th, 1970. The song was also the first song from a children's television program to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 pop charts. It was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Recording for Children in 1971 but lost to the album "The Sesame Street Book & Record", which ironically contained the song.
