On February 28th, 1983, the final episode of "M*A*S*H", titled "Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen", aired on CBS, ending the series original run. The 2 1/2 hour episode was written by eight collaborators, including one of the stars of the series, Alan Alda. An estimated 121.6 million viewers tuned in to watch the final episode, with 105.97 million of those viewers residing in the United States, making it the most-watched single episode of any television series in U.S. history! For 25 years, it was also the most-watched single broadcast in U.S. television history!
