On January 12th, 1966, the original "Batman" television series, starring Adam West, premiered on ABC! The series also starred Burt Ward as Batman's sidekick, Robin! The series became well-known for its "campy" 60s style and upbeat theme music, as well as being intentionally humorous and silly. "Batman" aired on ABC for three seasons with 120 episodes in total, until the show ended on March 14th, 1968. It aired twice weekly for the first two seasons, and once for the third. A Batman feature film was released in 1966 between the first two seasons. Batman held the record for the longest-running-live-action superhero TV series (episodes-wise) until 2007 when it was surpassed by "Smallville".
