Today in Television History (January 31st, 1988): "The Wonder Years" Premiered on ABC!

On January 31st, 1988, the first episode of the comedy series, "The Wonder Years", premiered on ABC. Created by Neal Marlens and Carol Black, it aired immediately after the broadcast of Super Bowl XXII. The series stars Fred Savage, as well as Dan Lauria, Alley Mills, Jason Hervey, and Olivia d'Abo. After six episodes, "The Wonder Years" won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series in 1988. The intro of the show, featuring Joe Cocker's hit version of The Beatles's hit "With A Little Help From My Friends", became one of the most iconic television show intros of all time, commonly being referenced and spoofed in pop culture. The final episode of the series aired on May 12th, 1993, after 6 seasons and 115 episodes.
