Today in Television History (July 12th, 1976): "Family Feud" Premieres on ABC!

On July 12th, 1976, "Family Feud" premiered on ABC. Created by Mark Goodson, the game show quickly became one of the most popular and enduring game shows in television history. The original version of the show was hosted by Richard Dawson, whose wit and trademark habit of kissing female contestants helped the show become a daytime powerhouse on ABC. Over the decades, the show has seen several revivals and a rotating door of hosts, including Ray Combs, Louie Anderson, Richard Karn, and John O'Hurley. However, the franchise experienced a massive cultural resurgence starting in 2010 when Steve Harvey took over as host.
