On July 17th, 1955, Disneyland California had its grand opening event. The event was broadcast live on ABC, and was anchored by three of Walt Disney's friends from Hollywood: Art Linkletter, Bob Cummings, and future president of the U.S., Ronald Reagan. The event was entitled the "International Press Preview", and was only open to specially invited guests and the media. Although 28,000 people attended the event, only half of those were invitees. The rest had entered illegally through counterfeit tickets and by jumping over the fence to the park. The next day, July 18th, Disneyland opened to the public with 20 attractions.
