On March 10th, 1997, the drama television series, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", premiered on the Warner Bros TV Network. The series was created by Joss Whedon, with the concept being based on the 1992 film of the same name. The show starred Sarah Michelle Gellar as Buffy Summers, and received critical and popular acclaim in its original run. Original airings often reached four to six million viewers, and although these ratings were lower than successful shows on the "big four" networks, the series was still considered a huge success. The show ran on the Warner Bros Network until May 22nd, 2001, when it switched to United Paramount Network, where it stayed until the final episode of the series aired on May 20th, 2003.
