On March 24th, 2005, the first episode of the American version of "The Office" premiered on NBC. The series was based on the BBC television series of the same name, which aired from 2001-2003, and was created by Ricky Gervais. The American version was adapted for NBC by Greg Daniels, and stars Steve Carell, John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer, B.J. Novak, Rainn Wilson, among others. The pilot episode of the series received mixed reviews, but the rest of the first season received moderately positive reviews. It wasn't until the following seasons, where "The Office" received significant acclaim from television critics, mostly for Steve Carell's performance as Michael Scott. The show ran for nine seasons on NBC, ultimately ending after a two-part series finale on May 16th, 2003.
