Today in Television History (March 28th, 1999): The First Episode of "Futurama" Premiered on FOX!

On March 28th, 1999, the first episode of the Matt Groening-created animated sitcom, "Futurama", premiered on Fox. The series was envisioned by Groening while he was working on "The Simpsons" in the mid-1990s. The original run of "Futurama" lasted until August 10th, 2003, when it was subsequently canceled. In March 2008, the series was revived for another run on Comedy Central until September 2013, and was again brought back for Hulu in July 2023, with episodes still being produced today. The series has been nominated for 12 Emmy Awards, winning six.
