On March 8th, 1993, "Beavis & Butt-Head" premiered on MTV. Created by Mike Judge, the show evolved from the animated short "Frog Baseball", which first aired on MTV's experimental showcase, "Liquid Television". Although the series became a symbol of 90s youth culture, it also faced significant controversy. In late 1993, after allegations that the show's "fire" jokes inspired a tragic house fire, MTV moved the series to a late-night slot and prohibited any further references to arson. Despite the controversy, it was still highly successful, and spawned the 1996 feature film, "Beavis and Butt-Head Do America" and the successful MTV spin-off, "Daria". The original run of the series ended in 1997, but returned to MTV in 2011, and moved to Paramount+ and Comedy Central in the early 2020s.
