Today in Television History (November 20, 1973): "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" Airs on CBS!

Today, "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" turns 50! This film was the tenth film based on the Peanuts comic strip, and the third holiday-themed one. "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" earned an Emmy in 1974. The 25 minute film, which follows Charlie Brown and the gang in their Thanksgiving adventures, was written by Peanuts creator, Charles M. Schultz, with music by Vince Guaraldi. CBS continued to air the special every year (with the exception of three years), until 1989. In the 1990's, the special aired on the Disney Channel and Nickelodeon, and started airing on ABC in 2001. Now, the film is exclusively on Apple TV+. "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" is considered a holiday classic nowadays and watching it has become a tradition to many families.
