Today in Television History (September 11th, 2001): America Watches The Worst Terrorist Attack On American Soil Live On Television!
On September 11th, 2001, American citizens watched the news in horror as two airplanes crash into the World Trade Center in New York City, as well as a third plane that crashed into the Pentagon, and a fourth in a remote field. The first plane crashed into the North Tower at 8:46 A.M., with the second crashing into the South Tower soon after at 9:03 A.M. The news started covering the event after the first plane crash, and Americans unfortunately watched the second tower's crash live on television news. The September 11th terrorist attacks, or widely called "9/11", is considered to be the worst terrorist attack on American soil, killing an estimated 2,996 people, including 2,977 victims.
