On September 19th, 1994, medical drama television series, "ER", aired its first episode on NBC. It was created by Michael Crichton, and starred Anthony Edwards and George Clooney, among others. The show was a hit, and became the second longest-running primetime medical drama in American television history behind "Grey's Anatomy". "ER" is also the highest awarded medical drama, winning 127 industry awards from 440 nominations. The show aired its final episode on April 2nd, 2009, with a total of 331 episodes and 15 seasons. It is considered one of the best medical dramas of all time, and set the standard for medical fiction for future series. As of 2014, "ER" had grossed over $3 billion in television revenue.
