On September 24th, 2007, the first episode of American sitcom, "The Big Bang Theory" aired on CBS. The show was created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, and starred Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, and Kaley Cuoco, among others. The show was filmed in front of a live studio audience, and followed four geeky friends who navigate life together with their neighbor Penny. The show received mixed reviews throughout season one, but critics were more favorable to the series in the second and third seasons. It was nominated for the Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series from 2011 to 2014, with Parsons winning the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series four times. A prequel series, following a young Sheldon Cooper titled "Young Sheldon", aired from 2017 to 2024.
