On September 2nd, 1980, the iconic PSA commercial, "We're Not Candy" aired on television. Now considered one of the most recognizable and surreal artifacts of 1980s television, the announcement was created by Kid's Corner, a patient education company. The "singing pills" characters actually made their debut on a local children's show in Bismarck, North Dakota, called "Kid's Corner" before being adapted into the 30-second PSA announcement for the Long Island Regional Poison Control Center. The PSA has since become a staple of Gen X and Millennial culture, being sampled by Busta Rhymes for his 1997 hit song "Dangerous", and more recently, it became a viral piece of internet nostalgia on platforms like YouTube and Reddit.
