Today in Television History (September 9th, 2004): "Joey" Premiered on NBC!

On September 9th, 2004, the ill-fated spin-off of "Friends" - "Joey" - premiered on NBC. Starring Matt LeBlanc reprising his role as Joey Tribianni, as well as Andrea Anders, Paulo Costanzo, Jennifer Coolidge, and Drea de Matteo, the show initially had great ratings in its first few broadcasts. Unfortunately, though, as the show went on, ratings severely dipped. Midway through its second season, the show was placed on hiatus by NBC, but eventually returned on March 7th, 2006. After one more episode aired, NBC canceled the series in May 2006. Today, "Joey" is considered one of the most iconic television show failures in history.
